Hired Guns
Published - 06/12/99

Storyline:
It's the 21st century. More than five hundred years
ago, whose who could afford the passage left the poisoned and crowded
earth to follow the three major corporations: Tesseract, Betelov
and Grenworld, to the off-world colonies that had been established
in the solar system. Tesseract was the first successful corporation
to pave the way to the Luyten system, 10.8 light years from Earth,
with the development of the interstellar drive.
Colonies were established and lives began anew, humanity
began to flourish once again. The corporations amassed great wealth
in this buoyant economy while the population grew at a steady rate.
But eventually greed and jealousy led to fierce competition between
the three corporations for consumer spending power and consumer
loyalty. The unrest brought on the growth of strong military forces
on all sides.
The Luytenian Economic Conflicts raged for almost
two hundred years, wiping out entire colonized planets in their
wake. The corporations armed forces began to feel the crunch when
colonies forced to survive created their own militias.
Tesseract, Betelov and Grenworld were forced to turn
to hired mercenaries to deal with the specialized data espionage,
rather than fund the costly armed forces they had created. Enter
the "hired guns", a crack team of four of the solar system's most
ruthless mercenaries lead by a man named Kircher. Hired by the corporations
to deal with specialized data espionage, these sadistic outcasts
carry out suicidal missions in an effort to sabotage their corporate
clients' competition. Choosing to play off all sides of the fence,
they may do whatever will bring them power and hard cash.
