As the realm of shooters expands to new bounds and heights swiftly, there is always one developer that is a step ahead of the others. White Wolf is a small developer that has one awesome idea that I believe could be a major breakthrough. By appropriately naming this project Werewolf: The Apocalypse, they have integrating a metamorphesis characteristic in your character while changing the perspective from first-person to third-person through the game to give it some variety. In addition, by utilizing the most famous Unreal Engine, the graphics, in both perspectives, will be as smooth as a Toyota Camry. DreamForge has one awesome idea, thanks to White Wolf Game Studio Storyteller, which they can manuver and manipulate to create a new standard of shooters into an extended, brilliant, beautifully detailed game that packs a large boom inside.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse has a story based upon the ones created by White Wolf Game Studios Storyteller. They have also made Vampire: The Masquerade and Mage: The Ascension. All of these story can be found in comics and they are all set in the World of Darkness, a supernatural realm of monsters, beasts, and magic. Ryan, the main character of Werewolf, is part of a tribe who has been corrupted with The Wyrm, the aspect of total destruction. Because of The Wyrm, his tribe sacrificed themselves to protect the world from the Wyrm and became White Howlers. Now, the White Howlers are extinct, and Ryan knows he can not be a White Howler anymore. However, these White Howlers have become part of a new tribe, The Black Spiral Dancers. There are thirteen tribes in all, and they are destined to protect the world from The Wyrm. Ryan must now destroy this feared and loathed apocalyptic thing.

If that was confusing for you guys, this is what Travis Williams had to say about the story which is not an easy thing to explain.

"Three prime forces control reality in the Werewolf: The Apocalypse mythos. These are The Weaver (Order), The Wyld (Chaos), The Wyrm (Change). In it's attempt to set reality in order the Weaver became "sentient" and has gone insane spinning its influence into every aspect of reality (the dominating ideal that is technology). Since the Wyrm was a force for change it was his job to set the Weaver straight. In its attempt to do so it got caught up in the Weaver's madness and cannot break free. So it's role went from being a force of change to a force bent on destruction. Now the Wyrm seeks the end of all things. Maybe it sees this as a means to finally beat the Weaver...

The Werewolf tribes are some 13 tribes of Werewolves that come from various parts of the world. Long time ago the Werewolves used to keep population controls on humanity (back in our hunter / gatherer times). Since Werewolves fancy themselves as protectors of Mother Nature. As soon as humans become stationary animals their numbers began to increase. This threatened the balance of nature and the Garou (what Werewolves call themselves) would cull the humans so that their number never got out of control. This lasted over a thousand years. And now humans have an inbred fear of the Garou in their Crinos form (half man half wolf form). Werewolves call this The Delirium. It means that humans totally freak out when they see them in the form that used to prey on their ancestors. That means they will do anything from sit there and spit on themselves, run like the wind or pass out. Sometimes they even attack. Go figure.

Okay now being a Werewolf doesn't mean you got bit. It means that you are descendant from a Werewolf. But just because you had a Werewolf parent doesn't mean you are a Werewolf. Sometimes the trait skips whole generations. One of the tribes of Werewolves, The White Howlers, decided that they were going to put an end to the Wyrms corruption. So the whole tribe went to fight the Wyrm in the Umbra (A dimension that is more spirit than here). Instead of winning they were converted and became twisted versions of the Howlers. Now called The Black Spiral Dancers these evil Werewolves fight against the other tribes of the Garou. So the White Howlers weren't totally wiped out. Some of their non-werewolf kinfolk survived. Occasionally, there will be a rogue werewolf born with White Howler blood. The Heart of Gaia is the story about a teenager with White Howler blood. Although he isn't a White Howler (The Tribal spirit of the White Howlers has been corrupted) he has the blood of one."

As long as the story is for Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the game is just as appealing and interesting for any RPG saga freak. DreamForge has a great story to deal with. Hopefully, this game won't be as confusing as reading the Hobbit in Spanish. However, White Wolf Studios must have one awesome train of thought to actually dig up this extended story from absolutely nothing except some faded myths. On the bottom line, if you want to find a game that has one long story, this is the one.

Werewolf's genre can not be place in just one subject. First-person shooter, third-person shooter, action, and role-playing are the ones that this wild game could be inserted in. First off, the perspective taken in this game is a first-person one which usually designates an action game, but features such as non-player character interaction, character development, and allowing the player to make choices within the given story fall under the category of role-playing. DreamForge had added RPG elements into Werewolf: The Apocalypse let the player feel like he is progressing through a supernatural adventure. The players bond with the character is something DreamForge is striving for, therefore, making the game much more entertaining and addictive. This idea of inserting character development is a great idea, shooters have become boring because everyone aim and strategies are so simple. By making this game a type of Final Fantasy-Half-Life crossbreed, people foam at the mouth by playing this game for a couple minutes.

"The single-player game will be further distinguished by story elements. We want the player to feel like he/she is participating in a larger narrative, not merely playing a game. In order to do this, story will act as a motivating factor for all that transpires. In other words, the Werewolf universe acts as more than a framework for the game; our use of it within a story connects all elements of the game in a comprehensible manner."
