Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the Nazis defeated the Allied forces in World War II? Chances are you have not, but it is an interesting concept anyway. Including this terrifying thought, sources indicate that the AI in Mortyr packs some serious punch, and you better watch out. Stealthy gameplay reminiscent of Looking Glass Studios's "Thief: The Dark Project" comes in combination with Quake-style shoot 'em up in this lethal mission to show the world that you can beat even the best authoritarian system. You're fighting for the future of mankind, and you're not going to give that up. And above all, its your life at stake. The Nazis don't want anyone in their facilities that's unauthorized, especially not some time traveling killer like you. Mortyr could actually live up to it homonym meaning highly explosive and dangerous.

In Mortyr, that is exactly what happened because of a "secret weapon" controlled by the Germans. They managed to make a striking comeback from near defeat towards the end of World War II, and crush the allied forces. Yes, including the United States. As you could imagine, years down the line things really started to get messed up. The year is 2093 and you are a mercenary named Sebastian Mortyr. The world is in chaos from natural disasters, and all can feel doom approaching. Hey, somebody better save the world, and he's just the guy for the job. However, just how is he going to do that? Well, you find out that the "secret weapon" that the Germans used to win World War II is actually a primitive time machine known as a QFD (Quantum Fold Device). You might think that's a little corny, but it gets interesting. You are sent on a mission back in time to defeat the Germans before they have a chance to take over the world. Wolfenstein fans, rejoice. It's time to waste some more Nazis, 3D style.

Well, unfortunately you can't just pack your guns and go blow Hitler's brains out first thing. Like a complete idiot, your father sends you back into 1943 with nothing but the clothes on your back and a knife. This is going to be harder than you thought, but for a Nazi-hating bred-to-kill bad ass like yourself, nothing is too difficult. It's time to see some good, old-fashioned killing. Remember, these Nazis didn't get to where they are by being weak and stupid.

As you can surely tell from the lovely screen shots, Mortyr promises to be one of the better looking shooters of 1999, even with the high anticipation for a release of Quake 3 by id Software. Mortyr uses a standard first person engine popularized by games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake. This work of art is current in development by Polish-based developers Mirage Media, 14-year veterans of the video game industry, who have been working on this game for some time. Currently, the source code is only available in Polish, so no mods until there is a translation. Hopefully, you'll be able to have enough fun with the 20-level single player mode and multiplayer games supporting up to 32 users per game. Interactive Magic plans to release the game in late Quater 2. Only the alpha version is available to select organizations, and we haven't been able to get a copy. Stay tuned for a playable demo later in quarter 2.

Trigger happy gamers and lovers of Nazi-killing, get ready for the ride of your life. Mortyr packs a variety of weapons and options that you can use for all sorts of purposes. One thing that makes the weapons in this game so cool is the fact that they're very realistic. You can use actual weapons that were available in the 1940s and used by the Nazis. And one thing about realistic weapons is that they are very lethal. Just remember, a bullet to the head will kill a Nazi soldier. Even though you are a truly badass mofo, you can't take a bullet to the cranium either. If you plan on meeting three Nazi Stormtroopers head on, you've got a death wish. It's much better to pick them off from a safe distance, making sure the bastards never see you. Or throw a grenade into the middle of a bunch of them and run, rest assured they won't be following you! The game promises hours of fun with death and violence, all justified too. Definitely a game to buy if you liked Thief, Wolfenstein, or just like to blow shit up.
